Cry for Help

I'm having a small Mother's Day cookout on Sunday and I can't think of what to make with my main stuff. I'm making those PIneapple Upside-Down Jerk Burgers (I posted that recipe a long time ago here, and can't be arsed to link it right now, so just search or something!) and I don't know what to make on the side!

Anyone?

How about a black bean and rice salad, with lime juice and cilantro in the dressing? You can add some chopped sweet red bell pepper to it for color, and you'll already have the lime juice and cilantro on hand. Those burgers sound great!

Corn salsa salad with shrimp. With the black beans too.
Happy Mother's Day!

Well, I was absolutely no help. What did you end up making?

Happy Mother's Day! Belated.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you, too! I made the black bean and pepper salad, but no rice/shrimp/weird additions - just beans, lots of peppers and onions, and a lime/cilantro/cumin dressing. Yum. And the ramen noodle salad from My Husband Cooks, which sounded (and was) rednecky but delicious.

And Dorie Greenspan's tiramisu cake from Baking: My Home to Yours. OMG, go make that cake immediately. SO GOOD. (Word to the wise: double the espresso syrup part and poke holes in the layers with a skewer and really soak that bad boy. You won't be sorry.)

Tammy, I've been having trouble loading your site - I get it (and can read it) in bloglines but it won't usually load the real site so that i can comment. What the hell?
